Ultrasonic Misters/foggers

Has anyone used these for increasing the humidity in vivariums, and if so are they very effective.

Cheers
Nick

I have. You CANNOT put them inside the cage. If you put your finger over the ultra sonic pad when it's turned on, you'll see why. Aside from that, they really heat up the water... don't want to cook your critter. I used a semi-tall tupperware container on the top of the cage. Fill the container about 1\2 or 3\4 full (whater level your fogger is most effective at). Just above the water line, cut an upside down T in the platic and push the folds in. This allows a hole for the fogg to escape and drop into the cage, but the flaps you folded in prevents splash. I personally would just get a better enclosure for humidity purposes, as this type of set up is more of a pain then a fix.

They get through a LOT of water.
They do work, but they go better with something that will absorb the water and release it again eg bark.
They seem to have the effect of making the air hotter.
Light bulbs don't last long with them.
Need to reduce ventilation or humidity goes quickly.
Membranes don't seem to last long so keep a few spare ones
