good idea for a cage ?

what Im thinking of is that im going to build a cage out of melamine.
Its going to be about 5.5 feet long, 3 feet wide, and 3 feet tall with a plexiglass front. then im going to put a UTH under it with florescent ligting on the ceiling of the cage.

does that sound like a good plan for a BCI ?

thanks on ANY input cause im new at this

is the bottom going to be melamine?
I wouldnt put a UTH directly under a melamine cage, depending on the thickness, the heat required to warm the floor of the cage may end up burning the bottom of the cage itself.

The size sounds good, albiet maybe a little taller than necessary, but thats really completely up to you. It wont hurt being that tall, its just going to take up more space and cost more to build.

But on the plus side, if your going to make it that tall, you may want to cut out a basking vent with some type of soft screen or hardware cloth and use a basking lamp in lieu of a UTH.

Or try one of those ABS plastic heat mats , or something like that.

i was planning on the bottom being melamine yes. Is that a bad idea ? i was thinking mabey about 3/4 of an inch or and inch thick. I know the height is a little taller than people normally use but im not a normal person :P. I might not make it that high that was just an idea.
thanks

any other suggestions ?

ive checked out boaphile and they sound good but just dont fit my taste. I think i could make one of the same quality ( for the most part ) and have it exactly how i want it even tho boaphile has some great cages and offers
