Using PVC-"Sintra"
I am using a product used in the sign industry called Sintra. It is about $80.00/ 4'X8' X 13mm sheet. It is light and works a lot like wood regarding cutting/routering/drilling. It bonds-w-a liquid but I've found the setup time somewhat long and also used square drive screws-predrilled & countersunk. I am on my third one and have a sequence of pics if I knew how to post them. I think this stuff is great mtl for reptile enclosures and would like input from others. it took about 8 hrs. to do 3 2'X4'X18" cages. The big advantage was the sign supply co. did the cutting-w-their panel cutter! I have 6 1/4" clear plexiglass for the doors to go on next week.

Please post pics and details!!
I read about using PVC, but never used it myself. I built 9 - 4X2X18 cages about 5 years ago for about $100 a piece w/lighting & heating and they have lasted very well. I expect to get another 3-5 years out of those and I got more than my moneys worth considering the cost of plastic cages at $300+ S&H!! Next year I plan on building 9 more 4X2's and would like to try PVC.
Use a site like Photobucket to upload there and then attach the link in your thread reply.

Sintra is the same material that Boaphiles are made of. It is light and easy to work with. But I would definately stick to the chemical bonding. It bows, flexes and cracks more than you may think and I would be very concerned about the screws coming out. The set up time for the glue is not that bad. I use adhesive 4052. I let it sit clamped for about 10 minutes and move on tot he next piece. It has a decent bond at that point, but you still have to be gentle. The #16 on acrylics sets up much faster. I am in the process of building a Arachno-Condo for my wife's tarantulas. I may have it done tonight.

I figured someone had discovered it's use in reptile cage mtl.. I have enough chemical & mechanical bonding I hope. I finished all three today minus the front clear plexiglass. I'd like to use some clear hinges but I don't know if any local stores carry them.
My photo sequence is sitting in my album on the web that is provided by my Altel cell phone camera site. Can I pull them over here? Last time I tried posting pics it took too much time.
