BCI cage - Need input from the math wizards

A lot of sites say a BCI can be housed in a 55 gallon tank. So I did a little thinking (I know, I was bored). The bottom dimensions of this are 48" x 13" which equals 624" of floor space. What about a 36" x 18" be used since this equals 648" of floor space? Wouldn't that be better since it has more useable floor space? What are your ideas on this?

It could be used although a bit narrow for the snake and when it gets larger it will have difficulty moving around in either one.

it is still a little small for a boa to turn around in...
As for your lid being escape proof..Nothing is..
