This recent month has not been a good one around here to say the least. This afternoon my kids discovered baby snakes in one of the rescue/rehab cages. I had no clue or even a thought that this snake was gravid. I did have 2 snakes in there together as they had come in together here. I didn't even have their sex verified as they needed rehabbing for weight gain and the "supposed" male also was being questioned as possibly being a female even. No mating attempts were even noted with them the whole time we have been working with them. Who knows, maybe she even had stored sperm for all I know even in this case.
Anyway...This female was not up to par for being mated to say the least first off. She never even went off feed the whole time gravid also for us. The mother and the babies outcome with pics are on this page.

I bet that was a shock! I was looking at the pics and they are all premies. That explains the low birth weight and the hanging sacks. As much as I'd like to believe they could pull through this, probably not.

OK..This is the one that's hanging in there still...

This pic is a size comparison...

The mother is not doing too great atm either now ..arghhh. We're doing all we can though to help her pull through also. BTW.. It was not Loringa that had the babies it was Hershey that did. When we took em in we were told that Hershey was a male and Loringa was a female. I doubted loringa was a female and the snake actually sexed out as a male...we just had em both confirmed and loringa is a male and hershey is a female...arghhh. Which would make sense on how the babies came to be here. So much for having 2 male snakes...UGH.
