Had my brother and some of his friends over last night and they wanted to take Aurora out, but I said no because she has been acting weird lately and had just started eating again last weekend. I didn't want to spoil it. Well she became active and left the humidity tub and I noticed something. At first it looked like poop but on closer inspection I saw that they were slugs. There were five and it looked like she was having "contractions, so I had everyone get away from the cage and my wife and I put a sheet to cover it. Tonight I checked on her and there was a white egg next her so I decided to take her out and remove the eggs. She has some thermal burns all along her belly, We gave her a bath, cleaned her cage and put down newsprint for a substrate. As I put her back in I used a whole tup of neo on her belly. I hadn't noticed her digging in to her humidity tub which exposed her to more heat. I have turned off the heat completely until she gets better.
I took out the eggs and this one looks white but it feels like a rubber ball and is really tiny. about the size of a golfball. I have seen kingsnake eggs bigger than this.

I don't have any words of wisdom to share Jesse, but I am sorry to hear this for you. I know this has to be really disappointing.

Yeah first clutch. And first one for me, too. They first copulated last half of november so I didn't think she was gravid. I suspected she was ovulating a few times but it was tough to tell. They copulated all thru winter, up until february. I hope next year will be better.

A lot of the times for any species, the first clutch turns out like that through no fault of the husbandry...it'll get better every year.

The unlucky mommy dropped an egg on wednesday, another on friday and two today. They were all infertile. She was having "contractions tonight and she looks like she has a few more to drop. Total count so far is 16.
