hey! i got in touch with a guy who whas 2 females and one male of amazonian redtails, he hardly wants to breed but the male is not as pretty as the females so he asked me to bring my 20 months old amazonian male to him, to try to breed or at least, use him and the other male to induce themselves to mate, the point is that i have read a lot before taking the decision to give my snake to him for 2 months, and i have found males can breed after the first year, but also i found that males dont breed until they are 2.5 years old so...what do u think i must do? i dont want to lose my time taking my snake out of my home for two months without any result... aw....he insisted a lot to trade my boa for any other snake i want...i didnt like that, i told him i would NOT trade my snake for anything, but a bad feeling remains in me

I agree with Lori... if you don't feel comfortable with this person, don't deal w/ them! I'm sure you'll have plenty of other good opportunities to breed your male. Good luck!

I don't know the in and out of breeding this species at all, but usually this means he will place them together with the female's sent in the cage, and they will kind of battle, stimulating the breeding cycle. Usually it just involves each snake pushing each other's heads down, and trying to overpower each other. But during the fighting snakes do get bit, and can be injured. My advice is to forget the whole thing, or just try to sell him a shed from your male. Sometimes another male's shed will do the trick if a snake that is accustomed to precopulation battle isn't in the mood for love . -Juggalo

Just another tidbit.
Look around at all the people here and everywhere else that do NOT breed by using that method.
They are still highly successful season after season.
As with any dealings, if you have a nagging that something isn't quite right, question it or avoid it all together.

well thaks!! i decided NOT to use my boa for breeding this time...its is just i dont feel confortable with all this stuff, i just met the other guy few days ago, and instantly he insisted of trading or bringing my boa to him, so i didnt feel that was the right way to do the things...i will surely have more oportunities to breed...but....the main quiestion....can 20 moths boa can breed???

How big is your boa? I believe 20 monthes would be too small to actully breed. The guy just might have wanted to use your boa to stimulate his by putting him in with your's for combat. But I'm not sure that would do anything for his either, seeing how young yours is, he might not have seen him as competition. But then again, I don't know all the ins and outs. I do think it was a good idea not to give up your boa, good move. -Juggalo
