AWWW holy adorable!!! Clowie & Buddy are so cute.
I got mine in an old 40 breeder tank in the basement. I got a few preggo mice about ready to pop so I may take some pics then & post 'em.
I like your idea of getting fancy mice as breeders. Nicer to look at, typically more tame (makes transferring for cleaning a LOT easier) & if some babies are in there to adulthood (rare! lol) you can always tell the original breeders apart from them.
I think your idea has just been stolen for my next batch of breeders!!!

Bad news.... So i went in the animal room and i looked in the mouse cage and i saw half of clowies body covered so i thought she was sleeping and when i poked her she didnt move, Well i was a little upset she died cause thats the third pregnat female mouse that has died. When i go to pick her up i saw that she was half ate. It was one of the growses thing i have seen. I didnt want to eat after seeing it.
Why would the other mice do this to her they had food water and a clean cage. And it cant be some kind of sickness in there cause none of the males have died and i have had them longer.
Well help me out thanks.

Sorry to hear it. that sucks!
What size tank are they in? Do they have hides?
I've heard of males killing females after they've had litters but I've never seen it.
I've only had problems with cannibalization if I accidentally let the tank get overcrowded.
How long did you have her & the others that died? Did they come from the same place? Maybe the place you got them from gave you some sick or older ones.
Could also be the diet. I switched off of lab blocks after I had problems with half of my mice not eating the stuff and/or not looking healthy when I was feeding that stuff.
If yours eat it with no problem, I'd say stick with that but I'd throw in some fresh fruits & veggies. You might also want to consider offering pregnant females a handful of timothy hay too.
It's good for them and they usually use it to nest as well.
I hope something works out for you.

Yep i have hides for them. 4 mice in a long 20 gallon tank.
See what happend was i had the white male and an nother white female and she was pregnat but she died, so i went and picked up 2 other females and buddy the 1 male so they were never bought at the same time. But i did buy them from petco.

Petco mice. Well, their fancy mice are way better than their feeders but they're kept in the same system of cages with the same ventilation and there's no handwashing bewteen cleanings of enclosures....and I just don't like that lol.
Even then, I've never had too many problems with their mice I did see all kinds of horrible stuff in the couple years I worked at a Petco. Probably just their breeder's fault but still...
Maybe try another place after cleaning out the tank?
Definitely pick up some timothy hay and throw in some fresh veggies & stuff though. They'll thank you by staying healthier & being better mommy mice lol.

The curse filter changed your wording to symbols to replace an inappropriate word.
As you saw the word mad didn't get changed so that's not the word you used. probably used another word for mad/upset and that one is not allowed.

welcome to the world of breeding rodents. pair them up 1.1, give them plenty of food (mazuri rodent block is good) and plenty of water. an enclosure that isn't so tall seems to help too. we've got 20 pens set up and have no issues but when i put them in an aquarium setup a while back, they became cannibalistic.
a lot of the females eat their first litter too.
if they have plenty of food and water though, they usually eat that.
