i have a female, she was gravid for the longest time and seemed to absorb most and actually later dropped a few slugs. i think this was due to her being bred twice before and having litters in 10 months- plus this breeding. i think the 3 was a lil' too much for her.
anyways, i am placing snakes together to make room becausing i am painting and expecting new enclosures.
so i placed my 8 ft male "LT" in with ezri and kahn (another male- a lil' guy) and ezri went absloutly nuts!!! she went on a courting rampage!! a female!!! she is chasing him all over the enclosure. he would sit in a tiny tight lil' ball and she would be on top of him- smothering him.
"LT" is not a shy guy neither, he is a very successful stud, bred 5 gals this yr alone, and all are gravid.
ezri has her tail raised of the ground, with the tail tip waving slowly with her private part opening!!!! at first i thought she was gonna take a crap so i kept watching, but she wasnt! she was waiting for a piece of LT!!!
poor guy was just shy with her i guess. i put in a lil' blue water bowl and he squished inside of it, and she just sits ontop of him.
she just recently drop a couple of slugs too. i have nver seen that before.

I've seen this type of behavior with females fairly often...but usually in singles bars and they weren't snakes

Julis, I laughed out loud when I read your reply! Thanks!
cb, The only thing I can think of is the natrual tendency of all animals to continue to reproduce. Maybe the weather or a drop in barametric pressure turned her on, but I know the weather is great out in NY now, so that may not be it. I have also seen on nature programs that when a stillbirth occurs or after a juvi animals is preyed upon, females of several species have been known to immediatley start looking for a suitable male to breed again. I'm just guessing here, and the weather may be the reason why your not-so-shy male is acting shy, again just a guess. Good luck!

lol!
i have to spend lots of money on drinks for that to happen.
you guys are crazy!
hey ti- the wether has been fine. no drops the day they did this. i asked rick, lt's former owner. he said he did a cooling before he bred his boas, so maybe the hotter weather did have something to do with it!
besides, it would have prolly have been slugs. he mated with 4 gals, not 5, but thats alot!
thanks for the reply

WELL...IN BURMS, THIS MEANS THE FEMALE IS NOT INTERESTED AND WHEN SHE KNOWS A MALE IS PRESENT, THIS IS HER WAY TO SAY "NO, I DONT WANT ANY" Seriously, if it is the same with boas as with burms, she prolly just is not interested.

hey koll!
i havent seen this post in a while.
i have no idea that meant that with burms. does the female burm go every where with the male burm and sit on him???
thats what ezri did! she did not leave this fella alone. she went every where he went and would smother him........
its all over now. they are seperated.

Yes!! She also ammits urates all over the place including on him while wagging her tail all around and showing her "insides". I thought the same thing as you at first, my female was throwing herself at my male and he was'nt reacting which was'nt normal for him(he breeds anything that moves..lol). Then I did some research on it and thats what I came up with.
