Breeding program set-up
We currently have 2 rooms under construction, well the smaller one is done, for are future breeding program.
The smaller room will house the neonates. The larger one will be 23'x20' will house the adults.
Ques- since we will only be breeding some each year, can the other adults be in the same room w/ the temp drops each season, if they are not being bred?
Mabey some ppl here who have breeding programs can give me an idea how to arrange it..This is all in the future, we have plenty of time.
Thanks

Actually I think it is better for them to be seasoned for there locality every year that’s what there used to in nature. but you have to remember different locality’s are seasoned differently if at all. Just my 2 1/2 cents.

Presumably you have a heat source to each cage, or are you just setting the whole snake room up in one temperature? If seperate heat sources, just adjust the temps in those cages you want to cool them in and leave the rest. Otherwise, I would suggest moving the adults or young animals you don't want to cool to the other room with the babies or something to keep their temps in the normal range. My snake room is relatively warm, but I still keep heat sources with a thermostat on each cage.

Yes to your question Cris. If temps are properly done to season any of your adults breeding or not will not have a problem with seasonal changes. Also with seasonal changes feeding also changes. Lower temps mean less active less heat to digest food matter i would beleive. I cant advise you on a schedule as im not experienced with this.
Are you planning on buying adults and breeding sooner than raising babies to be breeders? Just out of curiosity.

i'm not a breeder. Trying for the first time this year. But I don't season the really young snakes. But, after they reach a year or 2 I do season them wether i'm plan on breeding them or not.

All of my snakes have seasons.. babies too. My room drops to high 60s at night mid 70's during the day. My cages then have added heat for the babies and a few of my warmer species. Light cycle gets down to 8 hours then goes back up an hour a week to 12. My room also gets warmer in the summer with 14 hours of light. Those temps will make most of your snakes sick unless you have some types of pythons... read care sheet or talk to breeders of your species for breed specifics. It is not as if the babies get to saty indoors the first year they are alive, a small temp drop will not hurt them, but you just need to slow their feeding during the cooler times for regurge.
Hope this helps, and it is by no means the best or correct way, it is just what works for me and my breeds. I have cut and paste advice I have gotten over the years to this for me, works great I have yet to encounter a species I could not get to breed in my room--I have not gotten to my Kenyans yet they are still too young-another year or so.

now for the twist..
i've bred ball pythons, bullsnakes, several asian rats, and 4 types of kingsnakes without any type of cycle at all.
there are many ways to do it, and in my experience, the bottom line is:
if your husbandry is good, and the animals are happy and healthy, they will breed.
