BCC x BCI vs. T.merianae x T.rufescens
I am truly baffled by something so I'll give my reasoning for starting this discussion. I have received bad karma for a post where all I said was T.merianae and T.rufescens are different species, and I was also accused of being racist, though how that conclusion was made is beyond me.
So I am starting this discussion here, away from the original thread, so people won't continue to think I am badmouthing the God of Tegus. (Get a grip, folks; it was a discussion on taxonomy and hybridizing, it had nothing to do with attacking someone.)
Would someone please explain to me why it is acceptable to cross breed 2 different species of tegus, but the world STOPS if someone DARES speak of crossing subspecies of boas or even different locales of the same subspecies? There is no flaming here, it is a genuine question asking how one is OK and the other one isn't.
Let's assume you don't agree with the taxonomy and classification and think the tegus should be the same species, just different locales. That's still the same as crossing different locales of BCC. So what makes it different?

Good read: boa constrictor boa constrictor boa constrictor boa constrictor boa constrictor boa constrictor boa constrictor boa constrictor boa
(sorry it comes out so long like that!)
I don't agree with everything said.. I own hybrid pythons. But as far as breeding BCI to BCC, I wouldn't do it. To me, each is in a class of it's own.

LOL Slithers.. thanks, but I took that with a grain of salt, it was no big deal. The reasoning is what baffles me.
