ATTN: boa breeders
Do you use rack systems for your babies or do you leave them with the mom for a few days? If you leave them, how long are they usually there? A friend and I are hoping to try our hand at breeding next year and I wanted to look at what people are doing.

all i can say is take them out soon as you notice them! mom could crush them..I have 5 babies in a 20 gallon long right now..but they are only 2 weeks old..dont plan on holding onto them that long I guess...racks are a great idea for babies..I still need to build one!

This is one of those questions that defies a simple 'YES' take them out or 'NO' leave them in answer...
.
From all my experience I can say without any doubt it is best to leave the babies alone and don't screw with them until they begin to crawl. This can be especially true if there are some that are slightly premature. I can also say that baby boas can stay in their birth sacks for hours without drowning or dieing, it is a myth that they will expire if you don't pick them up.
.
HOWEVER.. IF your cage is too small for the mom and babies to co-exist, IF there are many slugs or dead babies, IF the littler is deposited on an unregulated heat-source and their temps are soaring over safe limits, IF mom is going nuts trying to keep them together on a newspaper substrate (or because you won't leave her alone), and more IFs, then you have to take them out.
.
Here's some photos of baby boas doing great right where they were born..
