Breeding my own rats it working out great... SAVES MONEY
I would greatly incourage any one who has a LARGE collection of snakes. Not 4 or 5 but a good size. this is why i started breeding my own rats see if your like me spending $60.00 a week it gets expensive so i started breeding and it saving big money. and the $60.00 is not including wear and tare on your care nor gas and with gas being so expensive now of days. so if you too breed your own rats comment on how much money it saves you and on top of that you know what your snakes are eating to comment if you too breed rats
thanks.

try big cheese rodents or rodent pro
that is an economical alternative, feeding/cleaning, and taking care of rodents is much more high maintenance then having lots of snakes.
I tried breeding rats once, smell drove me nuts.

I just got myself a young pair for breeding. This is the second time I'll be trying it. The first time did not turn out well at all. I had a very bad experience with cannibalism. I found out after the fact that the place I got the rats from were known to have this problem. We'll see how it goes this time. I do have 11 snakes to feed so it would be nice to save some money. Plus my kids love them.

I bred our rats up until we had kids and I had the time to put into it. We enjoyed the adults as pets and used the offspring as feeders. It was a lot of hard work and we ended up selling a lot to local petshops for extra money too, but not enough to make up for the work and upkeep. Just wasn't worth it in the long run.
I did find a local breeder though that I love having handy. His rats are the freshest I've ever seen and packaged so nicely.

We did, for a little bit, but with the different sizes of snakes we have it was more economical for us to buy frozen 100% of the time. Plus now there are no rat tanks to clean, no cute fuzzy babies running around (this is how Milo became a pet/breeder instead of dinner) and no more biting (Darn it Martha!!!) even if it was my own fault!
But if it works for you, great! It is definitely an experience!
