Seperate
Well my surinames have been hooking up since 5-01-06 and now they have seperate about a week ago, and the female has burrowed herself in the substrate, these are some crapy pics

should i seperate the male or put the female in a very large tub with newspaper?
better for droping?
Let me know and i have heard for reds the best temp is 82-85 should i change that ? i know to raise the temp later on, and when should i feed the female. I have read a lot but want to hear from someone personaly.
THANKS
Nate

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, Nate!
I have little knowledge about this so I will let someone else give you advice.

Plenty of people do.
I can tell you now that if your entire tank is 82-85, it's way too low and there needs to be some sort of gradient. About 90 on the warm side and 80 on the cool side for Surinames.
Somebody that breeds will see this soon enough. I'm pretty sure once they are done copulating it's best to separate them.
By the way, shouldn't this have been researched extensively before it was tried?

Definately sepatate them. The substrate isn't a major concern until she's ready to drop, then I'd switch to newspaper...It's going to save a huge mess later (well, you're gonna' have a huge mess anyway). Congrats on the "hook-up" and good luck!

You can feed her for the first 6 to8 weeks but I persanally wouldn't feed to big of a rat that is if she will eat for you most of the time they wont. After that I wouldn't feed her it is known to cause premature birth and we don't want that do we

Just because they hooked up doesn't mean they bred. They probably did but until you see signs of ovulation, there is no guarantee so watch and note that before cutting off her food Don't want to starve the poor girl. If she ovulates, she's definatly going to want to bask at about 90 degrees and she's not going to want company. Substrate is no big deal either way though they seem to prefer wallowing out a nest in loose substrate and you will end up with a much lesser chance of smashed babies and babies glued to the cage bottom and suffocated by dried afterbirth in the event you aren't there within a couple of hours of birth rather than what you find when you use newspaper and definatly do not use an old sheet. I made that mistake once and lost half a litter.
Good luck
