i totally agree with you 100% some people breed for money, some people breed to make a better boa, most just dont know, care or a combo of the two.
i talk about this on a few other sites n stuff, alot disagree with me, most prolly just dont care.
when ever you see me talk boa you'll always see me talk latin name and locale. i personally am spending so much money aquiring boas i know to be 100% true in locale. i have a few awesome resources.
bci, is
bci- but there are many locale in the
bci range and all are unique to their habitat and in there looks. alot dont care- i hear
bci is
bci all the time!! that is not true.
i have 2 types of colombian boas- just because they are colombian dont mean they are the same and should be bred. i northern colombians who are
bci- brown/ yellow with orange brown tails. the southern colombians are
bcc!
i have 3 different types of mexican boas alone!!! all mexican, all
bci locality- mexico- all different and unique to their own areas.
this is extremely hard for me to do. i am also spending waaaaay more than i thought on doing this. i have people who go and get the animals themselves- thats how i know 100% i also know several breeders who have done all of this themselves who have 100%
i also have several contacts across seas who have a better shot at getting stuff i cant. some countries over there dont have the same policies as the US. where they can buy from the countries, the US cant always do that.
i dont know if i ever told anyone my goal- so here it is: i am trying to get every boa from every locality in the world!!! and a few pythons too
when i launch my site in the near future you'll see what i'm talking about. i will have a full section with detailed maps and pics of my collection. (taken by a real photographer, i suck)
also, if you want- i think i can share some of my contacts with you.
dont get me wrong- i love the
morphs- i plan on getting plenty of things happening, but they will be label a such- all
morphs are crosses. i will not breed them to any of my pure stock.
there is nothing like looking at a beautiful boa- pure!!! they have stronger coloration, sharper markings- when you see what is flooding the market out there you'll see why buying pure is so much better- it has so much more weight for scientific and preservation reasons too!!! us humans are messing everything up. if you do decide to get into a project like this (not as heavy as me) you'll see how hard it really is. you cant trust anybody. you have to find some people and start getting nosey. there are good ones out there
that is a very good observation, and true too
