Okay my female had 20 babies almost two weeks ago. The babies are great they had their first shed and ate. But my concern is for the mom. She ate 2 days after she gave birth. It wasn't a huge rat, but medium size. Now after that she looked like she might shed. Her eyes were cloudy and her skin is very dark. Well the cloudy eyes have been gone since Saturday or Sunday and she hasn't shed. I want to feed her again. She looks very lethargic. She stays in one corner and doesn't move much. I'm worried about her. She looks thin and her skin is dark and loose. Is this normal for a snake after they give birth. I am going to try to feed her on Wednesday. I am scared. She is my fiancee's snake and he is away for the next 3 months and I am in charge. I don't want anything to happen to her. Please if anyone knows anything about how to handle a female after birth I would appreciate it.

With my female was the same way. I fed her a jumbo rat them 2 days later i soaked her in a tub of water to help her get the skin off It was real Thick. Not like her normal sheds very leathery. Mind you she wanst too pleasant while doing that. After that it was business as usual. just give her space and leave her be. Feed her she will need the food for energy.

Karen
Everything sounds pretty normal to me. The after birth shed can take a few days after her eyes clear up to actually shed. It should be ok to go ahead and offer food if she will take it. Good luck hope this helps.
