I read your other thread in the check in/check out section, anyway, I always thought that a boa had to be atleast 6 years old to breed?

That's what I've heard!
I've heard the very same thing, but the breeder I got my RTB's from says they can breed @ the age of 2. So I'm not sure. So I need some advise on how long it would take her 2 have babies, will she be agressive, things like that. I want to be prepared just in case.

deadirishd,
that was uncalled for. i think you should apologize.
alazay...generally you should wait until your female is at least 3yrs old, and plenty over 6' breeding her now, if she does become gravid can hurt her as well as cause death to her, but also, if your boas not 6' and becomes gravid, the offspring will most likly be all slugs.
anyways, welcome to the site, and i apologize for deadirishd. stick around!

i think we need to tell her about what she needs to do if the snakes have succesfully mated. I do not know any info on this becaus i have never bred rtbs but i do know that they need to be seperated and they should live their entire lives seperated. The thing is if they've been mating for 1 and a half weeks they probly have succesfully bred and we need to tell her what needs to be done to make the lives of the mother snake and or the babies as best as possible.

the mother snake is too small, so im pretty sure the offpring would be slugs or still borns.

Hi Alazay,
I know some people breed there boas at 18 months old but I think this is bad for the boa because they have pumped it full of food to make it grow fast and this will shorten the life span of the boa. I breed my boas when they are 3 to 4 years old.
This is what I think the males need to be. 5' long or bigger to be sexuality mature. Females should be 6' long or bigger with some good body weight on them. I like my female boas big and heavy so they can handle being gravid. Most of my breeding females are 18 to 30 lbs. Mating, being gravid and giving birth take allot out of a female boa. I also don't breed them every year.
One thing I think you have done wrong is put your two boas together so soon. I quarantine all my new boas for 8 to 12 months before putting them with any of my other boas. You could make your male boa sick if you female has a repertory problem. There are several other health problem that could happen to. If by chance your new female has IBD then you just killed your male and there is nothing you can do to save him or her.
Here is a link to my care sheet page of my website. There is a lot of info there that should answer most of your questions about the care and breeding of boas. http://www.mccarthyboas.com/CareSheets.html
One last thing can you post some pictures of your boas so everyone can see them?
Take care
Tom

please tell me if im wrong but i dont think she was trying to breed them she just had an addition to her colliction and thought it would be ok to house them together. I'd really like a response from Alazay to see what really happened. I think there are a few holes in the info.

PythonGuy is right, I didn't mean to mate them I figure it would be okay to house them together, with them being almost the same size and going to be 3 yrs. in age. But then I realized that my male is constanly trying to mate w/her. I don't think it has been a sucessfull mate. I was watching them last night and it seems as if he cant get get her in the right position. Every time I try to take her out of the cage to be away from him, he get really upset and looks as he wants to lunge @ me. So I think it would be best for me to seperate them now. I appreciate all the advice from everyone. And thank you for the Apology Jason, but u didn't have to it wasn't u who offend me. And neither did that other guy.

Gonna make this short and simple. Put a thick coat on and get some leather gloves and get them seperatred. It's a general idea to keep snakes seperated ALL the time unless they're mating. Do you have another cage ready?
