I want as much advice as I can get on breeding african fat tailed geckos
I have already gotting some good advice on breeding african fat tailed geckos, but would like to get some more to see what everyone else thinks as well...
I would like to know,
besides the geckos what other things should I have before breeding?
what a good ratio is when breeding them?
what should I look for before I decide to breed these two geckos?
what care do the babies need?
how do I go about incubating the eggs?
any other advice would be gladly appreciated.

Hi, I cannot answer all your questions however heres what little I can help with!
Before breeding you want a good nest box..with moss or something inside that your female can dig to burry her eggs
By ratio, do U mean how many females to 1 male? If so some people keep 5 or more females with 1 male!
Before breeding just make sure that your female is looking heathy and try to give her as much calcium as poss prior to breeding, to help her through.
As for your incubator this is a link that may help click me!
I hope this helps a little till someone with more usefull knowledge comes along!

Alright I will look for a nest box tomorrow.
would 5 females to one male do good in a 20 Long?
would I get them calcium by feeding them dusted crix and such or should I put water suppliments in as well?
Thanks for the help bro

The dusted crix are a must.. I know of people with more than 5 females to 1 male so I guess that'll be fine.
A friend of mine places calcium powder in a small bottle top for them to lick at will! calcium is available at all pharmacist and health shops.
To be honest I dont know how long a 20 gallon is? So I cant guess the size!..Sorry!

To be honest..(and I aint sure) but that would be 2.5ft.12"x12" which seems small to me. prob ok for 1 male 1 female maybe 2 females, but I doubt any more!

all females must be 40g minimum and after 2-3 years of age to breed and you must give them calcium in their food and putting calcium carbonate in a milk top for them to lick as they please and bulk them up with pinkies and locusts as egg laying takes a lot out of them and if underweight and lacking in the calcium it could have a devastating effect on the females health and it will risk future clutches and its life and if bred too young a big risk of infertility and dystocia(egg retention) will be increased.
youll need a 36x12x12 for a pair but obviously bigger for mulitiple females as long as the right quarintine precautions have been taken beforehand and only one male to about 3-5 females to get the best results and a laying box filled with perlite or spaghnum moss is the way to go
incubation of the eggs should be 80-83f for about 40-60 days but eggs don't read the recommended information so occassionally go over(my last clutch hatched at 65 lol)
care of the babies is a simple set up with waterbowl, hide and a little bit of calcium carbonate and kitchen towel as a substrate and is recommended they are housed singly until they are older
hope this helps
