As some of you know, I am mainly a python breeder. Well, Im ready for my first attempt at boa breeding. My question is....Can you cycle columbians at anytime in the year? I mean, can I start cycling my pair now, or will it be best to wait til fall? They are both ready, female had good weight and is about 4 years and 7 ft. Male is proven at 8 years and 6 ft. He is in breeding mode already. He tried to breed my other male when I had to keep them together for a few days during cage repair.
Let me know what ya all thing on the subject.
Thanks in advance.

We follow the Ronne system of breeding and by doing such don't exactly cycle our boas. As far as the conventional cooling process goes that is. We usually introduce our males to females in Aug or Sept. Ronne says he has produced boas every month but two. You could try. As for the male trying to breed the other male are you sure they weren't fighting. Males usually become active because of a scent put off by the female. Of course you could always try and see what happens.

I don't "cycle" my Boas either just like BadKarma. I'll be introducing my first males in two months! I can't wait!
