I posted this to you as a reply on the cooling thread, but it won't hurt to repeat it here as well...
Odds are if they haven't done the deed already, then you'll most likely have to wait until next season. To prepare for this fall, I'd go visit Jeff's site, www.boaphile.com, and invest in a copy of his video.

I am fully in agreement with Naja. Also, your 8 ft male (8 ft male?) is way too big to breed to a 7 ft female. That could be a bad thing. But do go look into the boaphile's video. It's worth twice what he wants you to pay for it.

But I gotta go with naja amd morti on this one.
At least you'll have plenty of time to learn all you can before next season.

It isn't really a matter of time. Well, it actually is- March is a bit late for breeding boas. While some breeding does occur this late, the odds are very slim. Also, as Morti has hinted, you'd be best served by using a smaller male this fall. Like I said, check out Jeff's site, get the video, and be prepared to follow his recipe for success in 6-7 months.
Right now, the only thing coooling will accomplish is a respiratory infection.

i can see why having a smaller male will do better, i also have some tiny-uns who are champion breeders- but using a male a foot larger is no problem. rick has a giant male (yes 10+) and he breeds an 8 foot female ever year. the male is waaay huge, the femae is big too, not not as big as he is. every single year- successful litters.
big guys need love too!

also
with out sounding like a richard (replace with the nickname)
you seem way eager to breed with out knowing anything. may i ask what your experince is with boa constrictors (or any snake for that matter)
sounds like you have no experience at all, i aopologize, but breeding boas is not a get rich quick scheme. do you know the locales of your boas??? are you trying to produce someting better??? or are yuputting anything together??? a regular boa is between 50-75 bux. notto dream shatter.
really sounds like you dont know much.
not beig a richard, but definitly take time out to do a lil' research and better equip your self for a breeding. an awesome book is the reproductive husbandry of pythons and boas, by ross and marzec. the boaphiles video is definitly a must have. also the boa contrictor manual, by vosjoli. has a breeding section by ronne.
i bet when you familiarize yourself with a few things- you'll have a larger healthier litter!!! as opposed to a rush breeding wich may or may not work.
good luck to you, and dont take this the wrong way. itshow i see it. if i am wrong- oopsy

Must also take into account the EXPENSE you will accrue when the litter is born. You will need to be able to house and feed the babies until they are eventually sold. And there is no guarantee that you will be able to sell all of them quickly. You may end up still having a few to care for.....

First off..
WELCOME TO REDTAILBOA.NET!!!!
Second..I agree with the others here. If you haven't bred the boas as yet, you really need to wait until next season for such. Most of us who breed em are awaiting on the "fruits" of succesful breeding at this time of year ;} I wouldn't use a larger male than female myself either for breeding boas also. I am in Mass. and only about 45 minutes from where you live, maybe we can get together and "discuss" what it is you want to do as far as your boas are concerned once I get back up north, in Florida atm
