They start at $5,000, but usually go for $8,000

Define "cheeper". Most morphs are going to cost much more because of the limited availability coupled with the work that goes in to producing them.

Big spender you. Have you taken a look at some of the albinos. They ahve a nice patter. With a Pink coloration instead of the red on the tail and the body pattern is a pink-yellow color.

You could get a nice pastel, hypo or even a cheap albino for that range. Check these urls:
The Boaphile
Rich Ihle

You could also just go to a reptile show. The vendors combined usually have hundreds of boas. You could just walk around and find the nicest one possible. If you go with a Columbian captive bred baby, max prices won't be over 100$. Trust me, there are plenty of beautiful columbians.

Many problems with the shows is finding someone that will guarantee the health of the boa as well as provide any records/info if needed

the only show in KY is in Shelbyville and you won't find any high end animals there. The Columbus show used to have quite a turn out but ever since the raid last year *shrug* I don't know how it's going now....
