new rescued boa

It seems that everytime I say I really cant take in any rescues and just want to concentrate on our personal collection of scaley friends ther is a needy reptile that pulls on my heartstrings.
A person at work overheard my friend and I talking snake-stuff and she jumped in with a PLEASE take my poor boa. Needless to say I ended up with him tonight after work.
Here is his story: her boyfriend got him from someone who kept a pet large rat in the same cage when he was very young("ooh cool the rat and boa are friends...") Needless to say one day the rat got him, really bad, His face doesnt even look like a boas face anymore. His whole muzzle is a disfigured red scar and his mouth curls up on both sides.
Anyways her boyfriend kind of cared for him for a while but then got too lost in "thick cloud of smoke" that was more important to him than his pets. So she took the snake away from him because he hadnt eaten in over seven months and cage was filled with poo. Well she wanted to care for him but decided she couldnt feed a cute rodewnt to him and she was responsible to try and find him a home that can .
So, I got "Jake the snake" and renamed him Elvis. He is skinny and neglected but has a great temperment. As soon as I can I will post some pics. After he is fatter and in better condition he will be available for adoption most likely (although a lot of rescues do end up with us permanently) I dont think we will have long-term room for him. If anyone thinks they might be interested in giving Elvis a forever home just let me know.
Sorry so long just wanted to share.

He is a columbian boa. He is really skinny but still a sweetheart. He is available soon for adoption but only for local pickup and to someone that is experienced with ill or injured reptiles. Otherwise I want to get him healthier and fattened up before he is adopted out. I would love to keep him long-term but as of right now I dont think I may have the room for another big cage right now. I definately have the time to care for him until someone comes along that wants to adopt him. I will post a kind of adoption application, just asks a few questions and anyone who would be able to give poor Elvis a forever home is free to answer the questions and e-mail me.
It is so sad but all he has been through he still has a great temper!!!

wish you the best of luck with the poor guy. Some people just need to have a clue slapped into them.

ELVIS ATE!!! The rescued boa I just got was so skinny and they told me he wouldnt eat very often and he would only take live... well I went to swap today and got a bunch of live mice and rats for my other babies. I took a small rat and tried to feed him, he curled up like a ball python. Now after killing the rat and re-introducing it to him he devoured it. He doesnt want them live...YEAH! I dont blame him since he has that scar from a live rat. But I am happy he has eaten. He will be available for adoption by the way, local pickup only during winter, we just dont have the room right now to keep the guy long-term. But he is a sweety and I am so glad he ate!

Oh, by the way I just realized what I posted and wanted to correct it real quick before I get a bunch of angry posts. I buy live, but I dont feed them live. Except for baby snakes get live pinks usually because they often wont eat prekilled right away. And then there is the occasional rescue that will only eat live at first (like I thought Elvis was)

OK this guy really needs a forever home, he is in a lot better condition than I thought at first and I wish I had the room for him but I dont. He is pounding dead small rats like candy. He also has a great temper. He can be delivered to Lee Watsons Reptile Swap, picked up, or delivered within reasonable distance. I am asking $25 adoption fee to help keep impulse buyers off because I know that some people see free and just take it without thinking about it. Any details can be arranged. I hate to say it but I just really never had the room for him in the first place but they were going to just dump him if I didnt take the poor guy. So if anyone is interested in a great pet boa that needs a good home e-mail me at star_reptiles@yahoo.com or reply to this. Thank you and please help!
