Boa doesn't like my girlfriends?
First, some history. I've had Kula for about 3.5 years now. She's never nippy, except during feeding. I've had her out to the local pet stores a few times, but I make sure I know where her head is and usually only let people pet her lower half.
About 2 years ago, I had Kula out in my bedroom while the girl I was dating at the time was over. She went to pet Kula and Kula actually struck at her. Didn't get her, but it was the first time she'd ever done that to anyone. I was pretty surprised.
Fast forward to know, I was just chilling on the couch with Kula on my lap. My current g/f was sitting next to me watching TV. Kula was heading towards her, doing the usual toungue flicking and what-not. Looked like she was going to crawl on her lap, but then she kinda backed up and hissed at her  Surprised the #$%^&#$%^&#$%^&#$%^& out of the both of us.
Jeni(my g/f) didn't do anything to provoke it, in fact she didn't even move. Is Kula trying to tell me something?  I find it kind of amusing that she only does this to my girlfriends.

Trust animal instinct. Maybe it's not sensing something about her per se...maybe it's just the difference in you when she's around that the snake is sensing...

That's what I thought at first. I told her it was probably her perfume but she said she didn't have any on. I think she's just evil.

I really think the snake is sensing something off of you...you were holding it when it struck, right? At a very simple, animalistic level...it can tell something isn't right...you may be tensing up when she's around...
And then there's the whole "evil" thing...

Does your girlfriend have a cat, dog, hampster anything of that nature? It could be smelling something that say food or predator to your snake. just my 2 cents

No other animals. We live together in an apartment, Kula's cage is in our bedroom. I wasn't really holding Kula when she hissed, she was more just sitting on my lap. I'm a little more concious of other people when I have Kula out, I want to make sure they don't startle her - fast movements, etc.

Looks like noone covered the dreaded menstrual time..
Quite a few animals dislike or like way too much , when its near, in, or recently passed.

Just my .02 but my boa Izabele had a major issue with my wife all of a sudden... come to find out it was my wifes bar soap... was some fancy soap... dove I think... had blue beads in it *shrug* anyway, Izabele got to acting all funny when she started using it, not funny haha but funny touch me and I will hurt you.
She switched back to the good ol peel your skin off soap and izabele hasnt had one issue with her since.

my friend had a ferret that was that way, it liked males w/ the exception of my mom, any other woman had to run for their lives if the ferret was outside the cage.

I vote for menstral cycle or the soap/shampoo/conditioner... or both.
It may be that your girlfriend is uncomfortable around you and\or snake for some reason, and effecting her pharamones....

hmmm my snakes dont seem to be any different about me during "that time"
i could be that Kula isnt quite comfortable with Jeni or hasnt gotten used to her yet...who knows.
as far as the female bashing..lets not get into that cuz I have plenty of ammo and we can get that started in another thread...hehe
