Funny thing though, you get a girl and guy, neither likes snakes, but the girl will eventually touch and hold. The guy, nuh uh, no way, not touching, ever. Sooks.
Oh wait, now I am guy bashing .....

I met a racist Iguana once. A friend of mine owns a pet store in Austell Ga. He kept telling me that his free roaming, very large male iguana was racist and hated black people (No offense to any black people reading this. Neither Diego, the store owner nor myself share this particular iguana's distaste for people of African descent.) I blew it off pretty much as goofy chitter chatter till I was standing there petting him one day. People had been walking in and out for a couple of hours while I was there and he didn't even seem to notice or care what was going on elsewhere in the store. Then a black dude walked in and the fecal matter hit the fan. I was still petting him and all of a sudden he tensed up and opened his mouth and let out a rather volatile hiss. Within a second of this poor guy walking in the door, the iggy was flying through the air, mouth wide open as he dove off the top of the register counter and litterally chased the dude out of the store. As soon as he was gone, I was able to pick him up and he acted like nothing ever happend. I locked him in a cage while Diego went to retreive his customer lol.

I had a dog like that once, her name was Ebony. Go figure. We had to lock her up or throw her outside when my sister's friends came over. My current dogs just don't like anyone, period.

I have to say I dont think it is soap. I have three kids and a girl friend we all use different soaps and I dont get any reaction fron any of the 4 snakes. Beleive it or not my three Balls even like my Great Danes. My Redtail does not care for my G/F and if you watched her you could see why. She tries to pet him but she is scared senceless and I think the snake can smell the fear.

I have a theory. Maybe the snake was reacting to some change in your girlfriends' body heat levels? Maybe your snake is completely used to your personal body temperature; the way I see it, snakes see every object as one of three things: a threat, food, or a "tree" or part of the scenery.
Maybe you are just part of your boa's scenery, but the girlfriend's body heat or something is different than your's, and the snake perceives her as a threat?
At any rate, it's better than the snake perceiving her as food! lol

Hi, my girlfriend is the snake owner here...lol. She ownes about three boa's and about ten ball pythons. I'm the who helps out with them. Actuilly, one of her female ball pythons dislike me all the time. It's funny, but oh well. I love all of her animals. I only own the bearded dragons and maybe a snake or two.
