BCI = Boa constrictor imperator or Common Boa. The reference to BCC is Boa constrictor constrictor or typically refered to as the 'true' red-tail boas. Unfortunately there is much marketing done calling anything boa constrictor-esque a 'redtail'. If you could send a pic someone could probably give ya a better idea of what you have!

bci stands for Boa constrictor imperator... the scientific name for boas originating from Colombia (the Andes west), some parts of Venezuela, and up into Central America.... "red-tail" is a name that could apply to at least 2 sub-species... but most likely you do have a Bci... most likely but no defenitely... a picture could help in identification... but even that isn't close to 100% accurate... and scale counts could be more accurate but even then... some of the scale counts overlap... but what can be definitive is yes it is a boa constrictor which for your purposes probably is enough...
regardless post some pics so we can go "ooooooooo"

Did you pick up this snake from a pet shop? If so, chances are likely that this snake is a BCI, as these are the most commonly found boa species in pet stores. The term "Redtail" is usually reserved for the BCC localities, but a lot of pet shops will give that name to anything that has a reddish tail. They did the same with redtailed catfish and redtailed hawks.
