Re: Think this is worth going broke over?

It's all perspective, sorry for my slightly harsh comment. I'm not in a stable enough position to spend my paychecks on snakes any more so I use money from selling babies to buy more. So my personal views influenced my response. That's just me.

If you feel you can aford her then that's all that matters. She is a very interesting looking BCL... I thought it was a funky BCO for a second. Then realized why would you be going nuts over an Argentine

Re: Think this is worth going broke over?

LOL!! I love argentines, but wouldn't spend a lot on a BCO unless it was a "Maxx Pink" line, haha...

She's a hypermel BCL which is a much darker anery version...

She's very cool looking! Totally your call though....good points all around!
From where I sit, in all honesty, it sounds like you wanted everyone to cheer you on to yet another "slithering pringle".... and you should be happy to know that many care enough about you to voice concerns beyond the expected responses of "wow...go for it!"
Snakes, like many other things, ARE very addicting! 'Nuff said!

Re: Think this is worth going broke over?

I don't think the money issue is the most important one.

It's the care. Do you have someone who helps, other than your husband?

You'll have a (beautiful) litter of BCA soon plus your new baby.

Everyone must learn their limits, as much as it sucks.

Based on Ashley's comments given below, I would agree with her about having a "full plate".

"all this is very stressful... we have enough on our plate right now as it is and my mother refusing to give me my son back is just adding to the list of crap... Re: Think this is worth going broke over?

Well said, John, as usual!
Ash, one thing to think about if you really want your son back is having room in your life for him, as the court sees it anyway.
And extra money in the bank for unforseen emergencies (not unforseen snakes!) is never wrong, & could go a long way to make them see how responsible you are now.
Many of us humans buy things to fill a hole left by what we REALLY want/can't have....Is it really the snake you want?
And as Jt said above, it seems do-able right now when approached incrementally, but long term care of alot of big animals can get pretty overwhelming down the road...sure would hate to see you dumping them in 10 years! Also ask yourself if their plentiful offspring (which you will be creating eventually) will realisticlly have good homes...? In light of more and more restrictions*...which because of the ever increasing human population are just not gonna "go away"! (*not just talking bans here, but the difficulty of people keeping these kind of pets being able to find affordable places to live, as many have to rent!!!)

And this still haunts me... Hopefully that Koda is doing better now, but that is very, very frightening. We have to assume because I haven't heard anything.
Last chance.....

I agree with John 110%.
Your business should be your own, but when you have to ask complete strangers on a SNAKE forum about training your fear-defensive dog or how to handle your custody battle with your son, then you need to step back.

I'm sorry, but I can't sit here and be happy-slappy about this. Not after the doggy-drama, which is an animal related issue. Not after knowing what was made public knowledge by Ashley herself.

Perhaps I'm just mean, though. Put the money away for the baby, and when he/she is old enough, let him/her decide what to do with it.

Re: Think this is worth going broke over?

i saw a very very very very very VERY similiar looking baby at the all animal expo a couple weeks ago. and it was just shy of my budget so i kicked and screamed and pouted (in a manly way of course) all the way home. then i went an bought a few pounds of jumbo shrimp and got over it. there will be others.. and who knows, the price might be better next time around. atleast thats my motto lol

Re: Think this is worth going broke over?

im with rachel lol, argentines are solid creatures in their own right =D
as per the rest of the madness, sometimes i think people post things (or say things) publically just to vent. in most cases these vents are driven through emotion which can dilute ones thoughts (ie. "i got a ticket so now i hate cops" or "im late to work and there's traffic so now i hate people and cars and earth's inhabitants"). i wouldnt do it, im a little more private with my business, but wouldnt go as far as using this against anyone. imo ashley may have attracted opinions (both negative and positive) in certain threads but i dont see it as an invitation to use it as ammo on later conversations. i see it as a "here and now" type of deal, but thats just me.
anyway, thats a gorgeous snake, id get it. if you can get it, get it.
ps if down the line youre overencumbered with snakes, i'll take some off your back =D i dig your collection.

btw- Koda is doing really well... other then getting a little excited and not listening when company is over, he's done much better. hasn't had any outbursts or issues. other then trying to eat my fence that he thinks is tastier then any toy or bone he gets... -_-
