High End Herps, Inc. - Animal Abuse Charges (Louisiana)
I have heard of these guys and seen them once or twice at the expo in New Orleans, but never purchased from them. They were, allegedly, feeding stray animals to their snakes. They found numerous cats and dogs in cages as well as other various life stock. This article is just a tid bit on it. The stupidity of people will never cease to amaze me.
Some snakes removed from property as animal cruelty investigation underway in Oakdale

Re: High End Herps, Inc. - Animal Abuse Charges (Louisiana)
I was at the siezure this weekend assisting LA fish and Wildlife.
We siezed 22 snakes over 12 feet that were in violation. The conditions of this place were appalling... also siezed were several malnourished dogs and cats......
Here is me at the business end of a 17 foot retic
none of these cages had a heat source and there were NO room heaters
Outside was covered in chicken crap

One of the several crates where dogs were kept standing in their own feces
Here is the World famous "High End Herps Breeding FACILITY"
If you look closely you can see the rotten dried up rat that was left in the cage for who knows how long

Re: High End Herps, Inc. - Animal Abuse Charges (Louisiana)
Looking at their site, the amount they were charging for critters, it blows my mind how it could be that bad.
I guess the old saying 'you get what you pay for' just doesnt always apply.

Re: High End Herps, Inc. - Animal Abuse Charges (Louisiana)
That is just horrible. It is obvious the guy was a jerk / clown just from all the B.S. on his site. Unfortnately this is not the first or the last time for this kind of nonsense.
Marc, thanks for helping Fish and Wildlife and being a good example of the reptile community.

Glad you helped them out, Marc. It boggles my mind why anyone would actually do such things. Hope those animals find good homes.

In these times where quality keepers are doing everything they can to keep this wonderful hobby, things like this happen... Deplorable!

Re: High End Herps, Inc. - Animal Abuse Charges (Louisiana)
I wish every single animal would have been removed
What seems so strange to me
Why wouldn't these people just acquire the proper permits
for their large Pythons ????
Instead of risk something like this ??
Its a good thing something(few animals) were taken away. I don't see how
they are allowed to keep anything but . . . .
The fact of the matter is according to the written word I've read in the article
the only thing they have done wrong by law so far was no permitts
for large 12 or over Pythons
I hope more violations can be charged and more animals removed !

Larry... the funny thing is... the permit is free in Louisiana....you have to fill out an application, and the herpetologist with wildlife and fisheries inspects your facility....... and you have to prove you either have experience with large pythons or have a degree in biological sciences.... not that difficult...

Re: High End Herps, Inc. - Animal Abuse Charges (Louisiana)
There is no way they would gotten the permit after an inspection.... may not be difficult, but he never would have passed!

Re: High End Herps, Inc. - Animal Abuse Charges (Louisiana)
Lar, the only they were doing wrong was not having permits? You would think those nasty ancient turds and rotten old rat would be considered neglect....everything there looked just gross....i would be scared to just walk by that place

Re: High End Herps, Inc. - Animal Abuse Charges (Louisiana)
After seeing that, I'm embarassed to be considered a herp keeper. Just wait till our enemies in Washington and folks at Animal Planet use this against us. They will lump us into the catagory of those losers. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY APPALING.

Re: High End Herps, Inc. - Animal Abuse Charges (Louisiana)
How awful. Those poor snakes... I know every hobby have these kinds of people, but this couldn't have been worse timing as far as political-news-wise.
Hope those seized animals get great new homes.

one or two more incidents like this and you can guarantee animal "welfare" agencies are going to wage all out war on reptile keepers.
