08 MALE Hypo TH Moonglow Red Tail Boa
I found this on Craigslist:
Quote:
I have a really nice male triple het for sale he is an 08 a nice big boa should be ready to breed this season. He was produced by mike weitzman at basicallyboas.com orginially bought for $400!
I'm in a desperate money crunch...he will go fast!
|
She's asking $150
I'm trying to find a good Red Tail to buy...
What do you guys think?
She said these are his Genetics:
Parents were: Ghost Het Albino x Sunglow Het Anery
Which makes him Hypo Het Albino Het Anery = Moonglow

Re: 08 MALE Hypo TH Moonglow Red Tail Boa
I found this:
Captive Bred Boa Constrictors - Triple Het MoonGlow
And she also said that this snake's babies would go for about $1000

Haha I'm going in my truck... 08 Silverado 1500
But I mean I don't mind driving or the gas. Is it a good buy? I'm new to Red Tails.
I found another one locally, he said:
Quote:
shes suposed het snow I can't prove genetics myself but she came from a kahl straight snow to pastel het snow
she is late 08 alittle over 4 ft
|
Same price... The colors on the moonglow are better...

Re: 08 MALE Hypo TH Moonglow Red Tail Boa
she has an ad on Fauna - she was pretty confrontational when asked for paperwork, saying if she found it, she'd demand more. That said, it's a pretty snake that I considered purchasing, and having shipped. Are you interested in breeding? That's really the only reason to have all those genetics, when a hypo het nothing would be a great pet as well. Up to you

Re: 08 MALE Hypo TH Moonglow Red Tail Boa
It's a pretty boa. See if you like her/him and if you like the temperament. Remember, you won't get any health guarantees from CL. My first boa died after 5 weeks of unknown cause, and the store gave me credit. Just something to think about.
That was my .02 and here is one more .01. Please only get into breeding boas if you feel are really prepared for it. I know the word "moonglow" comes with big $$$$ for people. But the health and well-being of the snake should always be first and foremost. If you decide to breed, you will get tons of help here.

I agree with you, she said's its very tame and strong. You think I could ask for a 30 day written money back warranty?
I dont know about being prepared for it, I'll be as prepared as I'll ever be. But I think I'm more prepared than ever now that I found this forum. It does come with big money... but I understand that to make money, you have to do everything correctly and keep them all healthy.
I'm definitely going to bug EVERYONE with updates and questions if I do decide to breed. You have my word.

Re: 08 MALE Hypo TH Moonglow Red Tail Boa
I'm getting a poopotonomi and a general checkup done on her as soon as I get back to Midland.
They quoted me 40 for the check up and 19 for the poop thing.

Re: 08 MALE Hypo TH Moonglow Red Tail Boa
its a good buy, hope it proves out.
honestly though if i was planning on breeding snows/moonglows and was going to get a het for the project id get one from a known breeder dh do not cost much you could probly get a dh sharp snow for under 300 bucks shipped with paperwork and something you know is the real deal.
sounds like a good deal id just hate for it not to prove out and youre stuck trying to move 30 normal babies or even worse have it be sick and die on you... just my thoughts, good luck on whatever you decide.

Well... either way. I'd be paying the same amount for the normal (common) one that's here in town. I want to go to Chipotle anyways. I'm gonna go eat before I pick it up.
:P
Thanks

Well since you'll be alreayd picking it up, my views on actually getting it are a moot point. I agree with Nitram: if you plan to breed get the best breeding stock you can aford. Making money breeding snakes is directly related to how much money you want to put into your collection. If also includes being willing to wait the 3 years (or 4 or 5...) to produce babies. By that time what will moonglows be worth? $1000? $500? Case in point: I purchased a sunglow project in 2005 when sunglows were $3000+. This year she should give me a healthy litter, but I'd be lucky to get $500 for sunglows. It's a far cry from the $1000 I was expecting them to stay at in 2005. And all the profit is going straight to the new AP cages I just purchased so it's not like it's really a profit.
You just have to ask yourself: am I willing to take ANY price for the offspring and not worry about who I sell to? Just some things to think on.
