BCI vs BCC Growth
Could you guys explain to me the defference between the 2 snakes in there growth. I really want a BCC and i curently have a Normal BCI and HE is about 4 years old and 7ft, it seems like he grew really fast when he was young and sort of hit a platoe. With a BCC i have always heard that they grew slower then a normal but reach longer lenghts over a long period of time. assumimg that both snakes are feed on the same feeding schedule could you guys tell me if what i have heard is true. would be loads of help.

Re: BCI vs BCC Growth
For the most part the BCC seem to grow quite a bit slower than the BCI.... maybe it's because I feed them less that I did with BCI.... I always feed my BCC with restraint.. But there are exceptions... I have a 2008 that is just over 4 feet long..... and her sibling is 2.5 feet long... both have been fed on the exact same scedule....
I think it may vary even more depending on what locale it is..... My peruvian BCC seem to grow alot faster than my Surinames and Brazilians.....and the Brazilians seem to grow the slowest..
I feed bcc under 1 year every 12-14 days
over 1 year every 14-28 days

Re: BCI vs BCC Growth
my large BCC eats every 14-21 days... even a young bcc I would feed every 7-10 days. my bci I feed every 7... the big difference with the 2 is that you can feed a BCI a meal that is larger then it's body to leave a small bump. a BCC you do NOT want to see a bump... you want to feed BCC smaller meals

Re: BCI vs BCC Growth
What Ash said, however I never had a regurge with any BCC. Now I wasnt feeding meals that would leave HUGE lumps but just a tad bigger than the widest part of the snake. Although, I was feeding every 2 weeks.

Nope... they grow to be full grown..... Like I said earlier... I have a 4 foot 08 BCC that has been fed this exact schedule...... They are nice and lean... but still normal size......
You have to keep genetics in mind though..... I have a 2004 Tudehope Suriname that is only 4 feet..... from a bloodline that is consistantly small.....
Overfeeding is perhaps the most common mistake made by herpers.... People get in such a hurry to get their boas up to breeding size and feed them like crazy..... When it comes to breeding ...SIZE DOESNT MATTER....

I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you...
Seriosly... A good friend got him in with a shipment of boas allegedly collected in the Brokopondo District...... I saw allegedly because you really can't put alot of faith in the data that is on those CITES documents...
Anyway.. thanks for the kind words... he was a great pick up..... now I just gotta get him to breed...LOL
