Re: Boa or Python?
dont want anything TOO tiny haha
like the blood python colouring
Wish Emerald Tree Boas werent so crabby
faces on Boas definatly cuter looking then the python
i like the cuddlyness of my boa, and i need that kind of personality
its starting to sound like i should just stick with the more docile boa.

look for reptile shows around you, vendors will generally let u handle the animal if they think you are interested in purchasing

With some of the diseases floating around, you are lucky that ANYONE lets you handle their snakes...??? (and I don't mean you, personally of course...)

Re: Boa or Python?
I currently have boas, pythons, corns and a milk. Out of all of those, the one I have grown attached to the most is my Brazilian Rainbow Boa. He is curious, outgoing, VERY friendly and loves to hang out wrapped around my wrist. He is a little more difficult to take care of, however, as his requirements are a bit more demanding. High humidity, careful feeding (as he'd eat anything and everything and quickly grow obese if I let him) and a very constant and meticulous enclosure cleaning regimen. With all of that moisture, mold could grow like wildfire if not kept in check. Still, I adore him and I believe he is fully worth it.
A very close second and third would be my BCIs. They are so docile and friendly and they are curious without being pushy. I do, though, love all of my snakes and enjoy all of their various personalities and traits. Both of my pythons (Royals) are wonderful and have great dispositions. They are my "just chillin'" buddies and are happy to hang around my wrist or neck for long periods of time.
So...yeah...it really depends on what you want.

Re: Boa or Python?
actually i love merauke, there was one at my local shop that was sooooooo calm and nice. never even looked poised to attack and beautiful coloring. alas it was purchased before i could sell my kidney. cool thing about some of the arboreal snakes is that even though they can be just as long as say, a boa constrictor, their overall girth is often much thinner making the snake a bit less of a handful in some cases. a fifteen foot amethystine actually doesn't look as intimidating as you'd think comparing it to a burm for example. jungle carpet pythons and such, being arboreal, fall under the same category for me in terms as size, though i've never seen a jungle carpet or the like be quite as calm as my bcc, bcl or bco. i'm a boa guy for now, but a closet arboreal python lover

Sometimes shipping is the only way we can get the animals that we realllly want, and it can definetely be worth it...

Re: Boa or Python?
my argentine is a sweetie, if she's upset she'll be the first one to hiss and she hisses loud, but she has only ever even attempted to nip at me once when i first brought her home. now if she's upset and i pick her up she calms down instantly she's my sweet lil baby girl, i spoil her haha
she doesn't like to hold still haha

Re: Boa or Python?
well as much as id love a HUGE snake, i know i cant manage something like that on my own. so id say ~10' limit
i did look though a list of canadian snake breeders earlier, and they all seem to have alot of the same thing, Columbians and ball pythons, nothing too exotic and nothing nearly as nice as the snakes youre all able to get in the US. but im really liking the look for the argentines and the breeder im looking at has a few available. Price limits aswell haha. Definatly go for an green tree python but couldnt find any

Re: Boa or Python?
