Is your enclosure front opening or top opening? I have never had a problem putting a snake back into a front opening enclosure.....

Same here I never had a prob putting the boa back into his enclosure with a front opening tank. When I had him in a top opening tank I had a prob putting him back in. With a front opening tank I just point him towards the inside and he crawls in by himself. My main prob is getting the snake out not putting him back in.

I thinks its the falling issue lol. they have that feel of insecurity, like when you go to place them down in the top open tank,I think they feel they are being dropped ? I have this issue too, I keep him in a temporary 56 Qt. Sterlite Container for I am builing him a new Melamine enclosure "Front opening". When I handle him and put him back in his 30 gallon breeder tank, "I like it because of its roomy size and secure locking feature" he seems to tighten up around my wrist

How to put a snake up by Julius F Squeezer:
What you need is a soft baby blanket, a rocking chair and a fan. Turn on the fan and dim the lights. Cover the snake with the blanket and sit down with him in the rocking chair and slowly rock. If you can sing, sing a soft lulliby. Once you are certain he has fallen asleep, gently place him back into his cage and close the lid. If that doesn't work, use a snakehook, a tennis racket and many cuss words.
Seriously, how big is the snake and what size/type enclsoure is it in? If the snake has outgrown the cage, then yah...they can be a beast to stuff back into a too small cage. There shouldn't really be any huge problem though returning them to an appropriate sized cage. One thing to note about snake behaviour...if they are content, they don't appreciate change. They struggle not to be picked up because they are content where they are at the time. Once picked up, they usually quickly adjust to being held and become content. Then you try and put them down. They don't want to be put down....why? because they are content and snakes have virtually zero short term memory so they won't consider that they are going right back to where they were content a little while ago. Also, I have also noted what others have been saying about front opening cages. All of my snakes that live in top opening tanks, have to be coaxed to the bottom and the lid quickly replaced or they shoot right back out. All of my snakes in front opening cages, I just walk over to it and they go in by themselves. I can even leave the doors open on most (supervised of course) very rarely does one even try to come out...except Max the 12 foot burm...he doesn't much like his cage.

LOL @ Brett. Sing to them huh? I can't see why Max wouldn't like his 20 gallon long. lol j/k. Some front loading cages can be a pain in the rump to get the snakes in. My Boaphile is a bear to get Samson into. He is very curious and everytime you try to stick his head in he quick puts it on top of the cage. He is quite a charecter.

Max isn't keen on that cage because it looks like a coffin, and he is too full of life to allow himself to get situated in it.

hmm dont like talking in forums and stuff but must just comment on this "putting away" thing
all my boas are now big like from 7 feet up to 12 feet and simple fact is you just feed them gently back into their enclosure they feel secure and are very happy normally to go back to a safe warm enviroment im a small women and couldnt force my big ones anywhere lol sooo definitely they go of their own free will. I have more trouble pulling them out of their tanks than putting them back in believe me lol get to know your snake and what works for them thats my best advice
