Het Pastel?
If a Super Hypo Pastel were paired with a normal phase, would it be possible to produce offspring that are both Pastels and Hets?
According to a user from another forum, unless both parents are Pastel, this is impossible.
I ask because I came across a pair, two young females, one a Super Hypo, the other a normal-phase with a severe overabundance of pink along the sides.
The gentleman selling them said they were related, that the mother was a S.H.P and the father a norm.
That other user, though... I'm not a breeder, know next to nothing concerning such things, but I'm afraid I don't see why no hets could be gotten from such a pairing along with 100% viable Pastels as well.
Any input?

Re: Het Pastel?
As far as i know "pastels" aren't a recessive trait, or even a mutation really. In boas, pastels are basically selective breeding. So there are no hets, I do believe if you breed a pastel to a normal you could end up with some of the litter showing pastel traits, all a matter of chance really. I think...not sure, that you can get a pastel from a normal to normal pairing. < I'm sure someone will correct me on this if I'm wrong.

Re: Het Pastel?
Smtie nailed it. A selective breeding issue.

Re: Het Pastel?
yep, and everyone also has a different definition of what a pastel boa is, so what may appear to be a pastel to you, would not be a pastel to someone else. but no, you dont need two pastel parents to have pastel offspring.

Re: Het Pastel?
Thank you guys.
Much more definitive than the last user. No one responded to the thread save her, and she doused and lit me aflame for repeating what the guy who was selling them told me.
