Ugh, had my first regurge
Rather disgusting but, my rescue red tail who was run over by little kids on bikes, and they attempted to light him on fire... has puked. mmmm.
I bumped his rat size up and he eats every 2-3 weeks. I've had him checked by two vets for parasites, broken bones, etc (as he was set loose by his previous owner) and got a clean bill of health from both vets...
Temps and humidity are fine, he just gave me a perfect shed about a week ago. I think his rat was just too big... It did leave kind of a big lump, and I had to move his bin away from the AC...
Needless to say it was disgusting. Ugh.
oh, and he's on f/t rats
I'll give him a few weeks again off feed and see how he's doing, try again with something smaller. poor guy

Re: Ugh, had my first regurge
oh, and some obligatory pictures of him. He was just about to shed in these pics, too. I named him Muchacho. Well, Mooch for short.
you can see on the front of his nose where he had a lighter pressed into his face. How nice of the children, huh?
He by no means wins the award of most attractive red tail tail, but I like the rainbow in this picture
poor guy, get better soon Mooch!

Re: Ugh, had my first regurge
I think he's a very attractive snake!
Magni regurged for me one day out of the blue. I skipped a feeding, and the next feeding I dipped in Benebac powder. Hope that helps.

I thought it was a poop at first until I saw a little drool on it, and realized it's bones and a little fur. UGH. There isn't much left to it. Maybe he just had a bad day, too much to drink?

Re: Ugh, had my first regurge
poor baby. hope he gets better soon. I'd go a month before another feed since u already fed him every 2-3 weeks. my bcl had her first meal last week for almost a month and she eats every 10 days.
I'm sure he'll be better soon and I'm sure he's happy to have a good home now

He's been with me for about... 7 months now... When I was living in California some police officer found me through craigslist and called me... and said he already paid for a vet visit for the snake, it was going to live, but he didn't know what to do with it... crazy...

Re: Ugh, had my first regurge
snakes can regurge for a million and one reasons. if its every so often, its usually not a big deal. if they do it continuously, something is definately wrong. then it is just pin-pointing what. definately hold off on feeding the snake for at least a full week
the main reasons snakes regurge is, too big of prey item, improper temps, stress (probably the biggest), and intestinal parasites. there are many other reasons, but those are the most common (assuming it is onlyan every once in a while occurance)

Yup. i've already ruled out most of these, as he's not in a glass tank, his bedding was just changed and has been pre-treated, I have a temp gun, another thermometer with a probe, and it also has a hygrometer.
He had a fecal done in December that came back clean, his first fecal was done in October (was clean)
No stress, as he's in a dark blue tub and can't see out, and you can't see shadows either, and I only hold him when moving him into a temporary tub to clean out his poop and change bedding (was a week before he was due for a feeding, a week AFTER the feed before this one )
Like I said, I bumped up his rat size, it left a bigger lump than I thought it would, so he's going to wait a few weeks and I'll go with something a little smaller and see how that works.

Re: Ugh, had my first regurge
Poor snake. It's nice to hear he's in good hands now.
I have never experienced a re-gurge with a snake. I don't imagine it being too fun.
