Ruby Tuesday Delivered!!!

My very first litter of Boas arrived this morning!!!

It looks like somewhere in the neighborhood of 14-16 live babies. Two are albinos. There was one kinked up, severely deformed baby that I euthanized, and one slug. The deformed baby looked anery. Look for aneries in the goo pile! I'm hoping the double hets proved out.

My sweet, gentle Ruby was a hissing, face-eating monster when I relocated her to temporary housing.

We had an ice storm during this breeding and all my Boas spent about 15 hours bagged in my running Xterra, with the heat on.

In the VPI Boa video, Rich Ihle shows how he gives all his girls a shoebox with mulch in it and they drop the babies in it. I thought I'd try it, and what do you know, she dropped all but 5 babies right in the box.

Thanks, and yes, Ruby was overjoyed with me. She hissed for an hour and a half. She actually steamed the glass of the enclosure I moved her into by hissing at me.

Me too! And if some of them stick to my hands and can't come off - well, I can give them a nice home....LOL!

The really sweet part about that feeling of finding all them babies...it doesn't go away. Each time is like the first for me. Neat stuff for sure.

It was not that different from having a child, or grandchild, as crazy as that might sound. Very similar feelings.
