Constipation
I've posed this to RedTailConnect before, now I will ask you as it pertains to a different forum as well as a different Boa.
This is what I have to deal with once a month.
They don't poop. They just don't. It makes me crazy. Once a month - if I'm lucky! - THIS is what I have to clean out of my bath tub. They won't go anywhere else!
Her butt looked like it was going to explode.
There's no impaction, husbandry's suitable, or so I presume. But both of my Boas take a month to defecate. They look gigantic and become half their size in 30 seconds.
It just can't be good!
Look at that!

Re: Constipation
They need more fiber.
Are you giving them warm soaks? That's almost a GIVEN to produce poop.

Re: Constipation
Hmmm. Doesn't sound like it's outside the range of normal. But if you don't have it already, you may try adding some belly heat to your enclosures. Also, taking them out for regular exercise will stimulate their digestion.
And it couldn't help to get a fecal done.

Re: Constipation
X-Factor and I have a few that do that. His Suri usually will only go in the water bowl. Considerate of him I know. His BP looks just like that picture though. All over the place. Huge mess. Like once a month. Weird.

Re: Constipation
FIBER? Ought I just toss them a GRANOLA BAR every week with their rat? Lol.
Warm soaks. Yes. That's where this happened. I've been disinfecting my bath tub for the last ten minutes! And that's just Deosyni, man.
Sasori (3x Deosyni's size)... You've gotta fumigate the house when she gets out of the bathroom!
Once a month, if that. No less.
That's the first time Deosyni's pooped in a month and half.

Re: Constipation
For just about the first year I had mine, she was the exact same way...Would only poop in water (I actually scheduled her deuces like this, using a rubbermaid tub, as it's easy).
Gradually, as she gets older (2 next week ), she's now going whenever she pleases in her cage most of the time, although sometimes in her water bowl, but she still goes 3-4 weeks apart. I think it's just the nature of the beast. I actually prefer it this way, as my pythons and Dumeril's seem to be weekly to bi-weekly poop machines that need cleaning much more often.

Re: Constipation
Mine will pee wherever he feels like, but will ONLY poop IN the water bowl. Cleanup is a breeze.

Re: Constipation
Sorry, guys. I didn't see your responses. Was a bit hung up on the "granola bar" thing.
Yes, Stargazer, they've all UTHs. The thing is - and this is just my Boas, mind you - they-don't-use-'em. And not just those, they don't bask, they don't do anything. They sit in the cool end. My temps are correct - everyone sees that I remind others often enough - they just seem to have no need for warmth. The cool-end's 82 (I try to keep it warmer, 'cause I mean, good Lord... If I don't raise the whole gradient, they'll never go!)
I take them out often enough. It's been cooler here lately, I'd like to take them outside for a bit to get some roam-time. Other than that, I don't know. I've tried feeding them smaller live items (f/t = dehydration), no change. They don't even care what they eat. In that, I am blessed. They'd eat garbage cans if they could get their mouths around them.
Nothing I've tried works, and now BOTH of them do it.

Re: Constipation
Sorry, that made me laugh. One of my boas once pooped on my pink velvet sofa. That's one of the reasons I have leather now. lol
Have you tried putting a large water bowl in the warm end for them to soak in? They probably do bask in the warm end when you're not looking, like in the middle of the night. If you're sure they never go there, you may try lowering the temp on the UTH a little and see if that helps. You could also put hide boxes in the warm end. I have one boa that will only hang out on the warm side inside the hide.

Haha, yeah, I've had that issue in the past.
My retic seems to like to 'mark his territory.' He drinks lots of water and loves to pee (yes, large liquid puddle of urine w/ a tiny bit of urate) outside of his cage, but luckily never while being held. And boy does it ever STINK! So hard to get out of carpet/furniture, and far fouler than any snake I've kept. I've got him to the point where if it's warm outside, as soon as I get him out of the cage, I'll set him out in the backyard for a few mins, let him go, and hose down the lawn, and then we're good to go.

Re: Constipation
Neither of them has ever soaked that I've seen. For the first month Deosyni didn't seem to realize what a water dish was, lol.
Sasori will drink from it while I'm watching but if she's ever been "in" it's because she "fell in." She hates water. It's hilarious.
My Pythons go constantly. Rat in Monday, out Sunday. Like clockwork. It's a hassle with the Boas, though. Even my Kings poop themselves retarded on a daily basis. But nooo. Not the Boas...

Re: Constipation
Perhaps the anal-retentiveness has something to do with the way they were potty trained before you got them. LOL

Lol. Must be. Sasori was an infant when I bought her (2 weeks), Deosyni a month. That's when they're most impressionable! Lol.

Re: Constipation
It looks a little pasty. Does it have a strong or foul odor (more than normal)?

It began as urates (x3), then two solid stools, then it became reminiscent of McDonald's Milkshake.
And it smelled like a dumpster behind a Chinese Restaurant in July.
...On the equator.
Just like her sisters.
