Re: Wabbit Eaters?
depends dude. A rabbit pink is just slightly larger then a small rat, so you could feed a 4 foot or so boa a pink

Re: Rabbit Eaters?
I raise rabbits and rats for my Boas. I don't raise rats to be any larger than smalls. My Boas that are 3 1/2ft or larger are on rabbits from pinky size on up. Rabbits are a better food source for Boas (more protien/less fat). They're easier to keep as well - no tubs to clean. And they grow at a fast rate. A 3 week old bunny is as big or bigger than a 3 month old rat. Also, 50 lbs of rabbit food is cheaper than 25 lbs of rodent chow . Easier in every way.
If you're going to raise rabbits, something to know is - smaller breeds have smaller litters (5-9 babies), while I raise larger breeds (Californians, and Checkered Giants) and they produce up to 15 + babies at a time. A Pinky bunny is almost the same size as a med rat, so the longest that I have to raise them is 3-4 weeks for my 7 footer Boas.
I don't take pics of them eating though - its not my thing.

Re: Wabbit Eaters?
My 10ft female boa eats a 5-6lb rabbit every ten days or so. My 7ft boas eat a 3-4 lb rabbit every 2 weeks. Rabbit pinkies are about the size of a small rat and just as healthy for your snake. Less mess and cheaper. Rat chow $20-$25 for a 50lb bag and rabbit chow is $10 for a 50lb bag. I raise rats also and they are messy. Rabbits are not as clean but take less to clean so it evens out.

Re: Wabbit Eaters?
Wow, I never realized how easy it was to raise rabits. I may have to start doing that. My BCI is getting to the size where she can eat a 1 pounder. Also, my BRB will get to the size eventually where she can eat med rats, hence pinky rabbits. I definitely wont need 15 rabbits at a time, so Id probably sell them off. Isnt there a special liscence you need in order to sell rabbits for food? Sorry for slight derail.

Re: Wabbit Eaters?
I have 1 male and 3 female rabbits and have 8 to 10 babies every 6-8 wks. They grow up a little then do a f.k. or freeze em for snake t.v. dinners. We have to grow up a few females so I can feed the 10ft boa but they are cheap from my breeder. $1.25/lb So buy them for now.

Can no-one on this forum read??? This is a question regarding WABBITS, not rabbits!!! Does anyone know anything about Wabbits? I understand they are a lot harder to feed to snakes than rabbits, for some obscure reason.

Re: Wabbit Eaters?
When my female albino was about 4 feet or so I started offering her 1 to 1.5 pound rabbits. A jumbo rat is just shy of a pound anyway so you can start a 4 foot or so boa that's already eating one or two jumbo rats a 1 pound rabbit. Another female that was about 5 feet around August I started giving 2 pound rabbits. It wasn't long before both boas were on 3 pound rabbits! Now they're both fasting and breeding.
My big 8 foot female I give 4 to 6 pound rabbits to once a month. My 6.5 foot female I give 4 pound rabbits to once a month. When the two girls I mentioned above give me litters they'll go to 3-4 pound rabbits.
I avoid any rabbits over 6 pounds because after that all the extra weight is just all fat! A big breeder friend actually skinned a 8 pound rabbit once to see what it looked like underneath the skin. The entire body was coated in yellow fat you could hardly see the muscle!
PS: Danktat - How many times do you get: "Hey do you know you look like that guy from Scrubs?"

Re: Wabbit Eaters?
I don't really know how big she actually is but.. she's quite big
Definatly larger then 7 ft and she weighs around 30lbs..
@Vexaluntil: 'I avoid any rabbits over 6 pounds because after that all the extra weight is just all fat! A big breeder friend actually skinned a 8 pound rabbit once to see what it looked like underneath the skin. The entire body was coated in yellow fat you could hardly see the muscle!'
Depends on what kind of rabbit that is..
There are diffrences between an overgrown 'dwarfish' rabbit and a so called 'Vlaamse reus'
-->

I also don't feed my boa girl (or burmese python) that often..
When she or my burm gets a rabbit like that, they had enough for 3 months or so..
