Well.... It finally happened
Tonight as a lay in my bed surfing the internet with my 6 ft RTB Petrie laying all over me as usual, I felt a pinch on the back of my neck. Come to find out, the little terd bit me. It was the first time I have ever been bit, and the first time he has shown anything but being docile. It was not really a strike however, more like a little taste of my neck. Did not hurt, just unexpected. I was wrestling around with my Doberman before taking him out, but they have grown up with each other and lay on the same bed with me, so i don't think the scent of my dog threw him. Has anyone else had one of their snakes just kind of bit them out of nowhere? It was just weird I guess.

I had my retic out way back when and he was sitting on my arm while I was on the net. I heard a woosh in my ear. luckily he missed but I guess its close to the same thing? Other than that I used to get bit only when first reaching in to get the snakes out!

It was just completely out of the ordinary. he is the most well tempered snake and you could usually just kiss him on the lips. very bizarre incident!

So I had to apologize to my boa last night for being mad at him, because it seems as though he is not vicious at.... if fact he is just extremely well trained and well mannered. After he love nipped me I put him back in his enclosure while I went to the bathroom to access the damage. After coming back into the room I went to check to make sure all of his temps and humidity were okay. Come to find out there was the largest deposit of urates and feces that I have ever seen. He was nice enough to let me know that he needed to retire to his enclosure to make doodoo. A love nip was a lot better than a lap full of snake poo! I gave him a kiss on the lips when I came home from classes today to say I was sorry. It seems as though I have my man potty trained, and people say snakes are not smart. HA
