another feeding question
today is feeding today.Chance still hasnt had a second BM.Its been 3 weeks since he last once.I'm going to soak him again.
My question is........do I just keep on feeding him each week? I did find some urine in his cage last night.

Re: another feeding question
If there is urine - there is more than likely going to be poop that follows!
If it doesn't get better within a week, then go to a vet.
I would not suggest feeding him again until he poops.

Re: another feeding question
Is Chance a bcc? Does he have any other health problems?
If the answer is no, then I think he'll be fine. Some just hold onto poo a little longer.

Re: another feeding question
Mine always poo before their next meal (I feed mine once a week). It could be that your prey size is too small and their is very little waste.
My three bci's:
Zelda, born 9-11-07, weighs 563g and gets fed one ~40g weanling rat;
K 'la, born 5-14-07, weighs 458g and gets fed one ~40g weanling rat
Niah, born 3-21-08, weighs 106g and gets fed one ~25g rat pup.
What does Chance weigh now and what is the weight of the prey you are feeding him?

My BCI sometimes goes 6-7 weeks before she poops, I still feed her a rabbit every 2-3 weeks though.

Re: another feeding question
My snakes poo at their leisure. If I waited till they pooed I wouldn't be feeding very often. LOL
I think some snakes suffer constipation/minor digestion issues just like we do...except they don't complain about it.

Re: another feeding question
Forgot who asked but I have a BCI.
I guess I need to move up in prey size?I am feeding rat pups.I went ahead and fed him, almost a hour later he was still looking around and acting like he was in "feeding mode". For once I fed him in his tank,I didnt like it and will not do it again.Well, maybe I can but just cover his tank witha towel.he struck at the glass 2 times after he ate (I walked by his cage and he saw me)
He is the same size as some of the Boa's at one of the pet shops I went to last weekend and I got them to show me what size food they feed, they showed me frozen rat pups the same size as the ones in my freezer. So, should I go up OR wait to see if he finally trust me enough to realize he will get fed again (remember when I got him he had gone weeks & week w/o food)maybe he thinks that might be his last meal for a while?
BTW~~ here is a pic of the new hide I got last weekend, he NEVER goes in it.I think he likes his half log more because he always used it
some outside shots (I dont like how dark he looks outside)

Re: another feeding question
It has been my experience that pet stores feed only a 'maintenance diet'; enough to keep the snake alive and healthy but not enough to make the snake grow and thrive.
Again, Sherri, do you know the weight of Chance? He looks like my older girls and they get weanling rats and are thriving!!
