Re: messed up hybrid
UGH!
"Well The boa to python cross isnt easy but 2 years ago i mated a male White lipped python (Leiopython albertisii) to a female Brazilian Rainbow Boa (Epicrates cenchria cenchria). the succesfull introductions were not that difficult, The female Brazilian Rainbow died 4 months later, she was swollen to the point of bursting ,when i say that what i really mean is the skin between the scales was ripping.
Needless to say that i wont try that again.
I think it is possible but you would need to filter through the boa and python types and loss many along the way untill you get a hit, or it may have to be done in the lab to get your first viable offspring then cross off from there. "
I don't get it..... I really, REALLY don't get it, why and how can people BE like this! Makes me wanna knock their lights out!

Re: messed up hybrid
How could he let the brazilian rainbow die such a horrible death and be willing to try again with other species? I'm not into cross breeding but if I was, I would like to think I'd stop after the first death and NEVER try again. Some people have no common sense.
I would have thought trying to breed an egg laying species with a live baring species was a big no no anyway.

Well on the BRBxWhite Lip yes. We did see pictures of the ball python and boa constrictor copulation though. Very concerning.

Re: messed up hybrid
The pic at that link looks like a BP with part of its tail wrapped around the tail of a boa. Can't say for sure it is copulation and if it was I have never seen, or heard of, any proof of such a pairing actually taking.
Guess I am just old school but I learned egg layers cannot mate with live bearers without genetic manipulation outside the body.
A BP to a Corn maybe, a Eastern Sand Boa to a Garter Snake maybe but no external incubators to internal incubators.

Re: messed up hybrid
We know they CAN mate, but the question is will there be babies?
