Columbian staying in water

Ok I know that Columbians are fond of water, but she just shed last week. She ate last Friday and is other wise doing great. Is it ok for her to stay in her water constantly? That is pretty much where she has been since she shed. Not to mention pre-shed. When I took her out her shed pretty much fell off her where she had been in the water for so long.

Should I remove the water for a while? She has a large container for water that way she can soak pre-shed.

Note: there are no mites

Re: Columbian staying in water

Nevermind; I asked about mites and missed the last sentence.

Some snakes just like to soak, or will soak because they are stressed. Are the temps correct, enough hides, etc?

Her temps are fine, she has a hide it is sitting on the floor, she does not use that very much. I will try maybe adding a new hide up off the bottom to see if that will work.

Yea the mites were the first thing I thought of too, but I went over her with a fine tooth comb and she is clean. Over all she is healthy maybe I am just worrying to much.

Re: Columbian staying in water

If she's been soaking that long, the mites will be found dead on the floor of the water tub. They also may be stuck in the old shed. These are the places to check before completely ruling them out.

If a snake takes to soaking, all of a sudden like, not a normal behavior for that particular snake, then there usually is some sort of problem, be it mites, heat, what ever. Double check things before ruling them out. May be something simple.

Just an FYI.
