Bad day at the Damico house
unfortunately I had to have this animals hemipenis surgically removed today. I had him and his brother on a female for a couple of months. I came home Friday night to find his hemipenis had prolapsed. My vet was gone all weekend so I had to wait until yesterday to take him in. He was unable to put it back in as it was too swollen and had already had significant tissue damage.
I hope he was able to pass his genes on before it happened.

Re: Bad day at the Damico house
Ouch, that sucks. Hope you get some babies out of the female you paired him with!

Re: Bad day at the Damico house
More importantly, I hope he's okay and not too adversely affected by the surgery.

Re: Bad day at the Damico house
Sorry to hear that. I think he is a sibling to our male.

Re: Bad day at the Damico house
Wow. Sorry to hear about the loss. Breeding season can be quite arduous for boas (male and female). I hope he bounces back well. Perhaps he deposited enough to continue his line.

Re: Bad day at the Damico house
thanks Dankat. I hope he did pass his genes along. I have no idea how it actually happened but I may have learned a lesson here and that is to stick with one male. Both were aggressively trying to breed her and I wonder/speculate that the other may have pryed this guy off in the middle of copulation causing the proplapse.

Geez, Mark. I hate to hear that brother. At least he will be O.K. and now can live his life laid back...........John J
