Constrictions but didn't eat.
This would be his 4th meal in his life.
He contricted fine, but then he just smelled it and didn't attempt to eat. My guess is that he was in a corner between a rock and a wall and he couldn't find the front. He kind of slithered his front half around while still grasping the mouse. He's still there, I just left him alone to come back later.
My question is, should I try to feed him again right away if he doesn't eat, or wait a while, days?

Re: Constrictions but didn't eat.
well my snake used to do that, but she'd end up coming back to the mouse, or swallow it the wrong way and then end up doing it the right way...how long did you wait to determine he wasnt going to eat...and do you feed him in a different bin/tub??

Re: Constrictions but didn't eat.
I determined it in 10 minutes
I heard snakes are intrested in a meal for 15 minutes then give up, but that's pretty much a senseless rumor, right?
I feed him in the enclosure...or tub that he lives in.

Re: Constrictions but didn't eat.
yeah mine takes a minute every once in a while but patience is the key to virtue!! glad to hear it...and i would recommend you feed him in a seperate bin so he doesnt mistake your hand going in there everytime as a food source...just my opinion and from my expierences...and i think it could be a rumor, but i havent put it to the test so i dont know about that!

Re: Constrictions but didn't eat.
My baby knows the rat is already dead so just kind of smells it gets the size and eats if she thinks it is a good size.

Re: Constrictions but didn't eat.
It could be a few reasons, wait a few days and try again. If it goes longer than 3-4 weeks with out food or starts losing weight then worry.
