boa hiding
my female red tail boa refuses to come out of hiding unless she is about to eat and to drink...if i take her out of her cage and put her on the other side of the house she will slowly find her way back to her cage and crawl back in. she will even pee and poop on herself in her hide...i have not had her her whole life(i rescued her) she was abused and mistreated in a 2x2 cage and shes 7ft ...she is a sweetheart and has never struck or bitten me or even tried....any idea how i can make her more comfertable and like to come out?

Re: boa hiding
Put branches and fake plants everywhere... What does your new enclosure look like pictures would help more. But if she is having security issues just junk up the enclosure a lot it helps.

Re: boa hiding
Yeah I would just put some ground cover if you can just silk plants laying around will more then likely make her feel more secure and move around more. But then again also my baby doesn't move around to much unless she needs to. She might have been treated bad and therefore a little hand shy.
Edit: But she does look good for a rescue.

Re: boa hiding
For sure, more foliage would serve to make her feel more secure in roaming the enclosure. Of course I am the fool who decorates so heavily it is sometimes hard to find the snake.

Re: boa hiding
Not only more foliage but check all of the spots of the cage with a tempgun, it maybe a temperature preference as well. You could also offer more hides all over the cage.

Re: boa hiding
You don't necesarily need more hides just more plants... But more hides works. It could be temp preference. My snake I have seen in the hot spot in the cage I think twice. Other then that she still moves around just likes the cool side. Is she active and everything? She looks happy and healthy though. Good luck.

Re: boa hiding
Shes alright just lounging around. Mine doesn't move sometimes for a couple days then one morning I will wake up before her light comes on and she is climbing around the cage. You probably just don't see her. You have any other snakes?
