1) Getting bitten in the face is No Fun At All
2) Salmonella is No Fun At All
That said, Many many people don't worry about this guideline and they seem to get away with it every time. I am personally not one of those people.

I mean, I realize the obvious bitten in the face, but I just don't see why people take the precaution sometimes. They gloat about how "tame my baby is" but will flip if the snake comes in that proximity. Guess I was just wondering that.

It wasn't a stupid question! Maybe your question will serve as a reminder to others! I never let my snakes get near my face- I don't even let my gentle ball pythons near my face~ it's just a good practice to get into! Like Morti said: You don't want salmonella; that's worse than getting bitten I would think. (Never been bit in the face; but salmonella is BAD!)

one snake of mine that I DEFINITELY don't let get near my face is my black racer, Discordia.. she HATES my face and closely watches with those angry eyes of hers... lol
