Re: Stupid Question Time
Here is another 2 good reasons:
Don't kiss your snakes
Culture test came back.
Salmonella is not the only nasty zoonotic disease out there but it is a nasty one:
Salmonella From Pet Turtle Kills Baby - Digestion and Digestive-Related Information on MedicineNet.com
A bite in the face is a lot more forgiving than a nasty parasite or disease. However getting bit or wrapped by a 7+ foot boa you put on your shoulders or face, can be very scary and fatal as well.
6 foot rules and not allowing them near your face are responsible guidelines, comparable to not diving in the shallow end or running around a pool. Yes people do it and nothing happens but when something does happen it is catastrophic.
With my pets and my life it is better safe than sorry.

Re: Stupid Question Time
I guess I should note that, in reference to my earlier post, I would never let anything big enough to cause physical harm to me near my face or on my shoulders. All my snakes are little guys, i.e., 5 feet and under.
Thanks for that post Raze. Every time I read that thread about the worm it serves as a very useful reminder to always, always wash my hands.

Re: Stupid Question Time
I let my snakes climb on my head but if I do get bitten it's my own fault.

Re: Stupid Question Time
If any of my snakes by any chance start crawlin' across my face I close my eyes real tight incase they do decide to bite.. but again, it's which snakes of mine I'm familiar with.
