Question
ok i may sound like a newbie for asking this, but who cares.
my friend just called me and he found out his girl is prego so he wants to get rid of his 70% het albino female. he said i could have her since ive help him raise her from a baby. my question is i dont have room for another enclosure right this second. i've never housed any snakes together or a long term basis for personal reasons and beliefs. only time is if i put em both in the plastic bin to clean cages. i really want her tho. she is 5 1/2 feet long. EXTREMELY gorgeous and very tame. she is a salmond and pinkish color. plus she has been on f/t since he got her. so what are your guys' (and gals) thoughts? i also know she is healthy and wont transfer andything to my current snake.

As a long term snake keeper you already know the answer to that question. If you cannot give the snake it's own enclosure you cannot take care of it's most basic of needs, which would make getting the boa both wrong and cruel.

Re: Question
Never house snakes together. If you don't have enough room/money/whatever for another cage, then you don't need another snake.

Re: Question
Not gonna work...if she's pregnant the last thing you want to do is stress her out by introducing another snake that she's never met... I would honestly try to find her a home somewhere else where she can have her own enclosure.

ya i know i was just hoping i was wrong. even when i knew i wasnt. i may just build a double stack cage. one on top of the other. take up more room heighth wise but not length wise. if i hadnt got the retic then i wouldnt be in this boat. but i love my retic. only had her a day and a half but still love her. i just cant wait til she gets settled in so i can start handling her.(and most likely get bit)

Re: Question
Go to home depot, by a 60 qt storage tub. It's about 4-5 ft long, 20 inches deep and 6 inches high. It'll do until you get a tank, and cost you about $10.

Re: Question
lol I hear ya. Get an appropriately sized water bowl and a 50w-75w heat bulb or just a regular 100w incandescent for temporary heat. Make sure the lid is secure and THERE ARE HOLES IN IT FOR VENTALATION. You should be (temporarily) good to go.
Oh, and send some pics!
