Full Grown Boa Cage Size

Would a 7 ft long x 31in wide x 16in high enclosure be big enough for a full grown boa, say 6-7 feet?

Re: Full Grown Boa Cage Size

We keep our 6-7' boas in 4' x 2' x 1' cages...

The dimensions you listed are almost big enough for a full grown retic.

Re: Full Grown Boa Cage Size

Many keepers believe 1sqft for every foot of snake. The cage you mention could house a 14+ foot snake, odds are your boa will not reach 14 feet, but it is great you are building for such. You can never over build just improperly house.

Lol, I'll make sure my hubby doesn't read that. He doesn't need any encouragement.

So far as the boa goes though, the bigger the better right? Extra space doesn't hurt them or stress them the way it would for a baby, does it?

Correct. An adult boa will be fine in a large cage so long as you can meet the environmental needs. The larger the cage, the harder it is to keep temps and humidity up.

I keep my adult female boas in 6'x2'x12" cages... it at least gives them enough room to stretch out if they need to.

Re: Full Grown Boa Cage Size

As Morti said as long as you heat it correctly and provide adequate humidity you should not have a problem. Be sure to make use of the space as well. Our 9 foot boa is in a 6'L x 3'W x 5'T with plenty of basking shelves at different temperatures and climbing branches to keep her athletically fit
