Another pairing
This is my Dyer female (Sipperly stock) with the male I got from John Brady (Tudehope x Futo). I originally had my Tudehope male in with her for quite some time and they seemed to have gone stale on each other so a switch up a few weeks ago resulted in more activity. Another pair I hope takes.

Messing up the sheets but I hope there are procreating goals in mind from this couple....not just fun

Re: Another pairing
In the past over two decades of working with these funny creatures, I have seen many different scenarios that would result in ovulations and litters or none of the above. I have seen aggressive courtship, that lasted for months and never get an ovulation or a litter. I have seen aggressive courtship for months that would result in a ovulation and then slugs or courship that would result in ovulation and a good litter and literally, ect.ect.ect.ect. Typically, we feel that a male will not breed a female, unless she is receptive or putting off pheromones. I do not agree with that at all, anymore. Some males, are just really aggressive breeders and will breed at any time, when introduced to a female. However, in the wild these males are not hanging around with females for months, in order to get the job done! Even though some of us have aquired a better understanding of what it takes to be successful, we still miss the mark by a fairly large marjin and is why we introduce our Boas probably months before the female would ever be receptive in the first place, in order to " not miss the window of oppurtunity, " if you will. May and June, have always been my magic months for ovulation and somewere around the later part of July, if no ovulation as happened, it more than likely will not, no matter how much breeding and even copulation is observed. Typically, in the Spring I have seen that most successful matings and copulations will happen when you notice that the male is not being very aggressive in his courtship rituals. The courting will usually become much more " laid back " and is a huge indicator that the female is finally receptive and higher probability of good copulations and of course better fertilization, once the female is ready to pass the ovum. In my experiance; " Real aggressive courtship is fun to see, but is the equivalent of rape on the female and in my opinion, a contributing factor to the females allowing herself to take a forced copulation and maybe possibly ovulate, just to keep the male away and the result can be slugs or a high count of slugs, because she was not in condition to breed in the first place. " Bet you never heard that one before? Many of my best litters resulted from pairings, that I never even seen them have courtship behavior. Wich basically means; " the female was receptive to the male completely and he did not have to go through a aggressive ritual or rape her to get the job done. " Ahhh2e, just little things that stand out like a swore thumb, once you become obsessive compulsive enough to observe them in all aspects. Good Luck, Hoss! In a couple of months you should get a swelling..........John J

Re: Another pairing
Looks good, I hope that works out for you. A handsome couple, I particularly like the male, from this angle anyway.
