Young Boa Questions
So I received a 8 month old BCI around 2/1. She has eaten 2 fuzzy rats every week for me and appears to be healthy.
Thing is she has not shed once in my care. I thought young boas shed about once a month...is this right?
Also, she has defecated twice.....but it was mostly urine and a very very small amount of solid matter. Does this mean my boa is just using almost all of its food towards growth? Do I need to feed her more?
Thanks

Re: Young Boa Questions
One appropriately sized rat per week is probably better. Is it too dry. Please give more info. Temps, humidity, hides, cage size, setup.

Re: Young Boa Questions
Sound good. Sometimes they might go 1.5 months between sheds. As per the pooping question, they poop out what they don't use (hair etc.). In time the poop will get huge. No worries.

Re: Young Boa Questions
Haha yeah...my only other snake is a ball python...and I wanted something that would get a little bigger but nothing like a retic or burm.
My BCI is Colombian female...so she has the potential to get pretty big. She has a great mood though....has never hissed or bit me. She didnt even hiss the day I took her out of the shipping box.
She was a little jumpy at first...but is starting to get used to being handled.

Awwwh i remember when I took my first ever snake out of the shipping box... She didn't do anything. she just wrapped around me and explored Ahhh the memories...
But then, one snake led to another. Which led to another. And now in less than a year I have added 4 snakes to my collection. Yayy.

Is this humidity a little high? I thought they liked it more around 50%?
