OK check this out..What do u think?
Read this fact about distinguishing BCC from BCI, and my Boa does not fit into the BCI scale count? I didnt think it was a bcc, but she has only 14-15 dorsal saddles.... BCI needs 21 or more? What do you think?
Quote:
BCC
scale counts - 75 to 95 dorsal rows.
227 to 250 ventrals.
49 to 62 subcaudals.
Average 15 to 21 saddles.
BCI
scale counts - 56 to 79 dorsal rows.
225 to 253 ventrals.
47 to 65 subcaudals.
Average 22 to 30 saddles.

been doing this well over a year and in my expert opinion....a rtb. LOL, I still can't tell them apart unless it is a nice defined Suri with peaks.

I think you have to count saddles all the way to the vent, not just to where the tail starts.

I do not know a BCC from a BCI.
However, the average saddle count does not equate to minimum - maximum saddle count. It's possible that your BC is simply outside the normal average range.
You may want to look for a more precise definition of each subspecies. Ideally, this would include the average saddle (and scale) counts along with the minimum and maximum counts and the number of specimens examined.

Thanks for the extra info. Its still like 17-18 max...
I say the saddle thing is false. Her tail may be a SLIGHT redish brown, but not as red as the tru bcc 's i have seen.

I would love to know a more precise way to tell other than "a really red tail" and "solid, good looking saddles" thats why I thought the saddle count was a precise way to go...seems like thats not too precise either
